WELMONT is proud to host Signaling Out Through The Chaos (A-Side) - a solo exhibition of the works of Zachary Eric Federbush, open April 14th-15th, 2017, and located at 1930 Montgomery St, Savannah, GA, 31401. There will be a free opening reception to the public on Friday, April 14th from 6 - 9 pm, and an open gallery on April 15th from 11 AM – 3 PM.
Federbush’s work comes from his experiences and perspectives with the world around him. How he sees and hears his surroundings, creating weird but wonderful characters and texts with strange phrases that overlap each other, giving off a sense of wonder and humor, that gives the viewer a peek into the artist’s mind.
In Signaling Out Through The Chaos (A-Side), Federbush shows one side of his art by combining things he sees onto large scale canvases, and letting his subconscious mind spill out, forming a tribute to the street art he saw all around him and loved as a child and young adult, in New York City. In addition, he uses his impulsive and rapid thoughts to create layers of colors, words, and images that mix together using a multitude of mediums, such as acrylic paint, ink, and spray paint. He creates on impulse using his instincts to create whatever pops into his mind.
Federbush is curious about memory; what one remembers or forgets. That in this day and age there are so many events that are going on in the constantly changing world, sometimes there are some details that humans keep remembering, not just day to day, but for their entire lives. For even the smallest detail can enormously affect someone greatly. In his work, he tries to show images and words that have meaning to him through all the clutter. In addition, he exposes himself in his work concerning his lost thoughts, dreams, and fears, mostly everything that is good and bad.
Furthermore, this is part one of two solo shows that Federbush decided to show in Savannah of his own work. The inclusion of A-Side in the title, is to indicate the main strong body of work of his Random Thoughts series, a yearlong project about letting everything, thought, feeling, and impulse out within his work, in the hopes of creating chaotic beauty with some sense of order. It is to feature twenty-two pieces that all seemingly connect together, which is in its own way the order that reverberates through the chaos of the works.
Zachary Eric Federbush (b.1989, United State America), is receiving an M.A. in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA, in spring of 2017. Federbush also received an B.F.A. in studio art from Manhattanville College, in Purchase, NY, in spring of 2012. He has been in two solo shows at Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. He additionally has been in a few group art exhibitions, around the NY and GA areas. Federbush’s work is consistently changing, though he does stick to his love of unique characters, vibrant use of colors, and the usage of words, by using acrylics and spray paint, to understand the world around him. Federbush is currently working and living in Savannah, GA, but will be relocated to the CT area in spring 2017.
