Everything Else In Between (B-Side)

April 24, 2017

Oglethorpe Gallery is proud to present Everything Else In Between (B-Side) which is a solo exhibition of the works of Zachary Eric Federbush, will be open April 28th-May 1st, 2017, and will be located at 401 East Oglethorpe Ave, Savannah, GA, 31401. There will be a free opening reception to the public on Friday, April 28th from 6 - 9 pm, and will also be open on April 30th-May 1st, 10 AM – 4 PM

Federbush’s work comes from his experiences and perspectives with the world around him. How he sees and hears his surroundings, creating weird but wonderful characters and texts with strange phrases that have a presence of their own, giving off a sense of wonder and humor, that gives the viewer a peak into the artist’s mind.

In Everything Else In Between (B-Side), Federbush shows another side of his art, by separating characters, colors, and text, into their own domain. Although on smaller scale, the multitude of the work shows the prolific side of his work. In addition, he uses his impulsive and rapid thoughts to create unique characters, strange phrases, and quick decision of colors that while does not seems to fit together, work out all in perfect harmony.

Federbush does these three ideas separate for different reasons. For his characters, is his fascination of people and a coping mechanism he made due to a lonely childhood and over-active imagination. The use of a multitude of colors is his wonderment of them, expressing them harmonizing, but figuring how to play them out in a free manner. As for text, Federbush has been fascinating about the power of words, and how they can capture people and influence them. He decides to tackle all three separately but at the same time, as well.

Furthermore, this is part two of two solo shows that Federbush decided to show in Savannah of his own work. The inclusion of B-Side in the title, is to indicated a body of work, though not main, is still consider strong due on a personal level of the work, and how much of the works he has created pursuing them throughout the years. It is to feature about one hundred and thirty pieces in which this three-ring circus of themes shown together show the same recognizable style of the artist, creating harmony and balance in between the three different concepts.
