Non-Fiction Gallery is proud to present Express Yourself, a group of works curated by Zachary Eric Federbush, will be open May 12, 2017, and will be located at 1522 Bull St, Savannah, GA, 31401. There will be a free opening reception to the public on Friday, May 12 from 6 - 9 pm, and will also be open on May 13-15, 2017 from 1 – 5 PM.
Express Yourself is a four-year long project by Zachary Eric Federbush in collaborating with others. With over one hundred artworks collected from people all over, Federbush wants to prove than everyone can do art, and each one has their own way of expressing it. Since it has been a question since the beginning of time: What is Art? However, Federbush is curious about another thing: Who is an Artist? To him, anyone can be an artist, that everyone has their own artistic talents but shows it differently.
With this project, Federbush goes around to people, no matter who it is or where he is, and ask them to create work for him, while providing a canvas to each person and then gives them a certain number of rules: no time limit, any materials and subjects the artist wants, have fun, but mostly keep it at the same size, but you could destroy the canvas if wanted. Due to no matter what he gets back, he accepts the work and puts it into the collection. For no matter, what the subject or materials or how long it takes, he accepts each piece as their own.
For him, everyone is their own artist, everyone can be an artist. It is just that we as people have our own perceptions of art. In addition to him, each art work is a piece of a person, like their little mark of history and presence.
